Hubby decided we should make a goal in 2011 to watch AFI's top 100 movies and I thought it was a great idea.
"We should blog about it," I said and, thus, what you are reading now.
Turns out, the list is more like 123 because AFI put out the first list in 1997 but revised it in 2007 by removing certain movies and replacing them with others. I'm not a big fan of revising the list to include movies that existed when it was originally decided but, regardless, we'll be watching over 100 movies and posting our thoughts/reviews on this site.
If you'd like to follow along, we're pretty sure all the movies are available on netflix so let us know what you think!
Awesome. Do you have a link to the list?

ReplyDeleteThis is the original list but there are about 20 additional movies that have been added since then.
The list kind of sickens me. When important benchmark films like Night of the Living Dead and The Exorcist are left off because old folks make the choices but Cabaret (did I spell that wrong? I don't care) makes it is sickening. Lists hate horror. That's all there is to it. Psycho, King Kong and Jaws made it but they took off Frankenstein from the original list. That film is a masterpiece even when it came out, and do some research, it was not a B horror. It was considered brilliant even in its time. And AFI's thriller list was worst of all. Titanic, E.T., Casablanca, and Wizard of Oz are on there but they leave off Texas Chain Saw Massacre, the mort horrifying brilliant movie ever made? Crazy. One more thing, Rosemary's Baby should no doubt have been on this list. Flawless in every way.
